How long does the personal statement have to be?

<p>Most of the people I've seen are having problems fitting them into 1,000 words, but I'm having trouble getting mine above ~800 words. I feel like I've covered everything that I need to cover in those ~800 words and don't want to add fluff. Do they HAVE to be around 1k words?</p>

<p>Nope. At most, 1000 words between the two. Simplicity is beautiful.</p>

<p>1000 is the MAXIMUM. Feel free to keep yours considerably shorter.</p>

<p>They recommend each one be at least 250 words. The limit is 1,000 words but I have heard they don’t mind if you go slightly over. I don’t know if that is still true or if they have changed their requirements.</p>

<p>Like everyone above has said, 1,000 max, no minimum, just a suggestion from the UC’s that essays should be at least 250 words.</p>
