How long from application being reviewed until decision?

I was just wondering how long it should take from the time PSU recieves my complete applicaiton until i recieve a decision. My application was completed, according to the website 2 weeks ago so im hoping for a decision soon.

mine was complete nov 1 and my app was sent on oct 1 so you may ahve some time

so u got your decision nov 1?

My out of state D got hers back in about 3 weeks. Accepted to main campus.

Some people on here sent theirs in in August and they're still waiting. =/

sent mine in Augest 1st at like 8 in the morning... nothing yet, lol

In todays Daily Collegian they state that admissions will be taking longer this year. Currently they are taking top students and denying the lowest stats. They have had a 12% increase in applications at this point. Last year's class ended up enrolling 8300 kids, the largest ever. This year they only want to enroll 7,000 at the most. Last year they had 94,000 applications.Hang in there you guys.

on my status website, it said that they had made a decision regarding my application....... and to be honest i am not exactly a TOP STUDENT. MEDIOCORE at BEST (and no this is not by CC standard) iam like a 3.2, 1870 SAT student. so since that article said that the lowests are being rejected does this mean iam REJECTED?!

My kid got the same message this morning...a decision was made yesterday. This is making me nuts. The application was complete 11/1. Last week my kid sent in an ACT score (31) from the October test to be considered too -- hope it helps, since class rank is only top 1/3.

im not too sure either i sent in my app oct 4 but is wasnt complete until around nov 1, so im assuming that i am going to be a kid with a though decision since it is taking so long

Anyone apply to the School of Health Professions as a Nursing major? If so have you heard a reply back from them? We know it's pretty difficult to get in as a Nursing major which is probably why it's taking so long to hear a response from Penn State. My D submitted her application mid-October. So the waiting game continues....Good luck to everyone!

For what it's worth, once D got the "...a decision has been made..." message, she received her acceptance packet within one week. Although we were on pins and needles waiting for it, and even when it arrived, while she was in school, I couldn't wait for her get home and open it, just to see if she was accepted to UP(her first choice) or Altoona(her second choice that she listed).

Good luck to all of you(or you kids, for the parents)!

ah i got that status change also today!...i'm so nervous..i sent my application in around september 30th....i also heard that we should find out by saturday which is awesome the wait just sucks

" I couldn't wait for her get home and open it"

That was so respectful of you! Give yourself a hand.

AspenD: I'm not sure how you meant that, but I did wait for her to get home and open it herself.

I finished the online app on Oct. 2, and it was complete on Oct. 9 or so, and the decision was made on Dec. 5.

Mind you, they didn't start reviewing applications until November, but it still takes time to find out if you aren't in the top 10-15% of your class.

Hmmm... My son still hasn't heard and he's in the top 9% of his class (96.4 average 1280/1940). His application was complete by the third week of Oct.

Plaid Freak: What major did your S indicate on his application? My D is in the top 15% (11% specifically) in her class but she applied as a nursing major...which I heard only takes 90 applicants! So I'm guessing that is the reason why we have not heard yet. Technically, they have until Jan. 31st to respond...hopefully, it won't take that long!!! Good luck.

Newdawn, my son applied to DUW (or whatever PSU calls it when you're undecided). Nursing sounds rough; I hope your daughter gets in.

PlaidFreak: Yea...we knew it would be competitive. During the Health Profession presentation, they recommended to get our apllicatoin in early and made it sound like we had better chance getting in if we did. Unfortunately, I'm getting the feeling that they are waiting to see all the applications and will be picking the cream of the crop. I still have hope, if not for nursing, at least for her second choice major.

I hope your son gets in too! Is your son pretty relaxed about all these college apps? My D has been okay ...but now that the deadlines are approaching, I can see her getting really nervous.
