So, I applied to the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities on Nov. 8th and I still haven't heard anything back from them. I applied to College of Design as my first choice and College of Liberal Arts as my second choice. Is it taking too long because I applied to two schools? I'm getting really anxious and I would love to hear your experiences!

That is really weird that it would take that long. I applied on Dec. 15 and got my acceptance (on the online tracker) today, Dec. 28. However, I only applied to the College of Science and Engineering so the fact that you applied to two schools might be it.

As a note, I think that results for the Engineering college are coming out quicker than those for other colleges. In the “Class of 2018” thread there are 3 people who all got responses within a week from CSE. For the other colleges, it hasn’t been nearly that fast. It’s very possible that the College of Design just goes slower than CSE and CLA. Don’t worry at all… there are plenty of people who applied in August or September and haven’t heard back yet. In fact, from what I’ve read, it’s very possible to apply in August and not hear back until February. Doesn’t mean that you aren’t accepted if it takes that long, simply that they aren’t sure yet and want to wait until the end.

That’s weird… I applied to CLA on like December 13th I think and received my acceptance on the 26th. Yeah I guess CSE is just slower. I only applied to the liberal arts school.

Applications did not start being reviewed until mid-October, I believe, so even if you applied super early, you wouldn’t hear back right away. UMN has rolling admissions and accepts its strongest applicants first. A lot of stronger applicants apply for CSE, hence why they’ve already heard back. I applied to UMN as well and still haven’t heard back - I’m a weaker applicant for CSE standards. Unfortunately, UMN doesn’t really have holistic admissions. Scores are VERY important to them. My advice is to not worry so much. Deep breaths. They have most likely reviewed your application already and are narrowing down applicants. The way I see it, at least we are being considered and haven’t been denied yet! I wish you the best of luck - try not to worry! :)

Thank you guys so much! And ablasco good luck to you too! :-)

It all depends on the program you applied for and your candidacy. I applied to CSE in early October and got my decision back about 8 weeks later (accepted). However, I do know some people who applied for CSE and got their acceptance 2 weeks later. There are many factors on when they send out the letters.

My status changed to “being carefully considered” on Jan. 17th. I heard that it usually takes about a week but I’m still waiting I’m getting so impatient
