30 mins? 45 mins? One hour? Also, I applied through Union. Will I be interviewed once or twice? Thank you in advance for the input.

30 to 45 minutes - one interview.

risubu, have you gotten an interview with union/amc already?

risubu, how are you planning to prepare for the interview? do you think they’ll want us to know a lot about management? :P

@matrix007 - Can you give any specifics about the interview? My daughter interviews for Siena/AMC on Feb 7. Wondering things like, how many people interview the candidates (is there a panel of people?), types of questions, etc. She has tons of volunteer experience, but not so much medical related experience…was that a big focus of the interview/will that hurt her?
Thanks so much in advance!

For RPI/Albany interview the format is as follows: You take a tour of the building first with the rest of the interviewees and program students guiding or answering questions. Then as a group they put the interviewers around a table with med school panel on the other side. Everyone goes around the table answering “why medicine” in front of the panel and also stuff like where you’re from and hobbies. It’s a little tense to be honest but definitely not that bad. You’re then given a group activity to accomplish (in my case it was having to develop a plan to advise a high school freshmen how to prepare for college admissions) and they try to see how you work in a group/who’s a leader so try hard to stick out and make a good impression. After that activity are the individual interviews, about thirty minutes long. In terms of ethics I think they just asked me about one ethical dilemma in medicine that I know/passionate about and I just talked about euthanasia. Beyond that it was normal med school interview questions like why medicine, talking more about experiences and how that links to you wanting to become a physician, talking about why RPI/Albany and of course mention how being a physician-scientist is valuable to you (aka talk about some of your research and stuff). My phone even rang during the interview and interviewer was chill with it (rookie mistake). Good luck with the interview! It’s not anything to fret about once you know what to expect and you practice/prepare for it (just being yourself is probably not adequate preparation).

when do the results come out for albany?

@mk8077 @breaker746 has provided a great writeup. My only advice would be to focus on the Sienna’s core theme for the interview. (e.g RPI has focus on research - so the interview focused on that)

@matrix - did they say when the results will be out?

Yes. AMC should be sending out offer letters in batches. First results will be out by mid Feb (selected, waitlist, reject). Some waitlist candidates may still get an offer after May 1st (based on how many accept offer in the first round etc).

will it hurt my chances since I called and picked a date later than offered in my letter? I was to chose from dates from jan4 ~ 31 and i took feb 15th instead

hey is anyone on here going to AMC on feb 15th and driving there?

The Siena/AMC interview was fantastic. To be honest, I went without much expectations because I’ve been blinded by my love for UChicago. But when I got there I was really surprised. The people are very nice. They know you by name. I walked in and the woman who was escorting everyone immediately said “Oh you must be ________. Nice to meet you!” Your day depends on what time your interview is. Mine was the last one–at 3:45. So I got there at noon, ate lunch other interviewees as well as the current students in the program, took a tour of the science building and the whole campus, and went back to New Hall (where I ate lunch) for the interview. I admit I was a little bit tense throughout the whole lunch and tour because I didn’t have my interview yet unlike some of the other kids (who got it over with in the morning). The interview was fine. I was expecting questions that I wouldn’t be able to answer well…like about national healthcare or details about medical ethics…but it was fine. It was fun. The interviewers are the sweetest people ever and you can tell that they love what they do and that they care. (There were 4 people in the room for me. 3 from Siena, 1 from Albany med)
Just make sure you know why you applied to the Siena/AMC program. Their focus is on service. Remember that. It truly is a great program.

@rldmsdl12 when did you interview?
and there was not any sort of group interview?

I went on Thursday jan 30th. No group interview–just you and the 4 interviewers. No biggie.

I pm’ed you rld!

@rldmsdl12 - so glad it sounds like your interview went well!! Mine’s next week. Did some of the other candidates take the tour with you, or was it just you and a rep from Siena? Also, just wondering how some of the others were dressed? I obviously know you should look professional, but just wondering if you noticed if any of the girls were wearing suits or just skirts, dresses, dress pants, etc?

When my D interviewed there was another candidate who had applied to both RPI and Union programs and he was getting interviewed once

@mk8077- Yes, you take a tour of their science building with like 3 other people. But for me, the other 3 kids had already finished their interview and had taken a tour of the whole campus in the morning so I took the rest of the tour by myself.
I wore a blazer and a simple dress…business-ish. Guys wore suits. Or at least shirt and a tie. Some girls wore dresses, some wore nice blouses. Make sure to wear a coat…or a winter jacket. It is cold hahah.
Good luck! :)

Hi my interview is this week for Siena/AMC, but I also applied to Union and my app got forwarded, so do you think I’ll have an interview for both? I’m SO nervous.
