How long should a scholarship essay be?

I recently finished up my transfer application for UT Austin and I am trying to apply for scholarships. The general essay says 55 lines max. What word length would this be? And what would be the ideal length? Would it be 500 words just like the regular application essay?

The prompt: "Describe and evaluate one experience that significantly influenced your academic interests. The experience might be a college course, a job, a relationship, an extracurricular activity, or a profound event. Be sure to explain how this experience led to your setting the goals you now have for yourself, and why you think the academic program for which you are enrolled will help you to reach those goals."

I can easily write this. In fact I already addressed this somewhat in my statement of purpose where I talked about the specific moment where I realized I wanted to be involved in film. This essay would really just be a expansion of that. It's just a matter of knowing how much to write that's the issue.
