How long should I study to achieve a 5?

How long should it take to study these AP classes:

-AP Biology (terrible teacher)
-AP Calculus AB (great teacher, but probably need more time to study)
-AP Environmental Science (great teacher)
-AP Human Geography (terrible teacher)
-AP World History (great teacher)

I'm assuming that the quality of the teacher is a factor in how many months/weeks/days one should spend studying for each exam. Help me decide please?

There is no iron-cast plan that ensures 5’s on any AP test. People have studied ages with no avail and people have studied the night before with numerous 5’s.

That said, YOU should look through the material and practice tests to gauge how long you really need for each test.

I would suggest starting to studying a few months ahead of the exams, keeping in mind that Bio’s the most difficult AP you have on you followed by Calculus and World.

Biology is really hard. Study intensely for it.

As much as you can possibly can.

It kind of depends on the type of class as well. Bio is a lot of memorizing facts so you will need to spend a lot of time on that. Calc is more about knowing concepts and how to do things, so if you had a good teacher and understand how to work out problems, you will need to study less (than for Bio).

For AP World History, memorize and understand how events occurred etc. Causes & effects.

You could cram the material in a couple of days. However, for most APs, you should study a month in advance (or earlier).

AP World isnt bad in my opinion. For the essay, you just need to write strong theses and back up your knowledge with a lot of supplementary facts.

Thanks for the advice! What review books should I get for AP Biology and AP Human Geography since I will technically have to self study the rest for the exams in May? My teachers are way behind and there is no way we are finishing the material we need to know on time.

I would suggest Cliffs for Bio, that is what I used and I think it worked really well. Remember to re-read your textbook (at least parts of it) as well!!

AP World is very easy. The most important things is to get a hold of past tests. I found that VERY similar questions from previous tests were on it last year. If you have a great teacher the essays should be pretty straight forward–just follow the rubric. I used Barron’s to study. To be honest, I am not sure how much Barron’s helped but it gave me confidence entering the test.

Focus on your harder tests. With Barron’s+great teacher you will be fine with world.
