The Supplemental essays have a maximum word limit of 500. The topics are basically "What is your choice of major and how will cornell help you?" Should I hit just right under 500?

I hit 500, precisely. Although I would have liked to write another couple thousand words, I doubt they'd look into attached papers when they take about 1~2 minute per applicant essay on average. But then again, that's just my humble opinion.

mine was just under 500 IIRC

Do you think it is okay if it is a little over.
I mean, they may not read it.
But is it a disadvantage?

Thanks.

doubt they'll count the number of words so probably isn't an issue, I can't say for sure though

My short = 150 words

Personal = 1010 words (yeah, crazy me)

Supplemental = 500 words

I guess it doesn't really affect you much if you go over the limit. But just don't overdo it.
