In the NYU supplement, there are four parts that we need to answer.
The space seems pretty small. What is the minimum or maximum word count?

Is it usually a long paragraph? Or two small paragraphs?

Thanks!

If I recall correctly (I'm a current applicant), theres a limit of 500 words on each of these "essays."

I recall reading somewhere that the limit for the short answers is about 500 characters, not words, with each letter or space counting as a character. If you do a draft in a word processing program you can get an idea of how long 500 characters is and go from there.

For example, what I just typed was 266 characters.

yea...watch out for that...i kinda fell for it at first...u only get like 80-90 sumthin words in (they are personal statements...not essays)

Er yeah oops I meant characters ^^;;

yeah, 500 characters is the limit. it's almost harder than the essay because there is such a tiny limit :X

actually I just got back from visiting NYU as it is only 45 minutes from my house by train, but anyway at the information session the woman said to just fill the box provided on the supplement, nothing more.

on the supplemen, theres only the 4 questions right? no additional essay other than the common app essay. just want to make sure

If you're not applying online, you can fudge it a bit and SQUEEEEZE the words in. I had such a problem with the limit so I rewrote them 800 times to get them to all fit in.
