Exactly how long should the activities list be? and in what format? do you guys make it in a "chart" format or bold certain words or whatnot?

Your entire resume should not be longer than 1 page. The format doesnt matter, just don't get to fancy with it. Use regular, plain resume paper.

one page? i've only got three activities.....

JERK is right, 1 page is the max, anything longer looks sloppy.

Yeah, try if you can to keep it to one page. I will have SO much trouble doing that. Luckily, I get to attach two (one for theatre, one for other activities).

"one page? i've only got three activities....."

I have four main ones (theatre, gay rights/AIDS prevention, Autism camp, and music) and then I have a fifth section where I just listed smaller things.

It's currenlty about a page and a third, I'm trying to trim it.

Three activities can easily fill a page if you double space the document (also remember to put your name and SSN at the top) and spend a little bit of space explaining or outlining what you actually did, beyond a title or name of activity.

I didn't send a formal resume, but I sent a 4-page activities list with a paragraph-long description of each of the almost 20 clubs/organizations/etc I was involved in to the colleges to which I applied. I heard nothing but enthusiastically positive responses from the adcoms I talked to.

If you're using MS Word, a good tip to keep your resume within one page is tweaking the page setup at File->Page Setup. Make the margins smaller, for example. Try reducing both margins by 0.1 at a time and use your sense of aesthetics to see if you went overboard:p Also, make it single-spaced. It still looks good when printed.

I'm confused on this topic b/c in Michelle Hernandez's books, she says to NEVER do a resume, because the adcoms will think you are snobbish or sometihg, but then she suggests the format for a maximum three page "activities list". Does anyone really know the difference? Help!

Clear your mailbox!

k. i cleared it.

Anyone else? I'm really fretting about what to do here!
