How long to bike from Davis to Sacramento

I’m starting to think I shouldn’t bring a car, but I want to commute to Sacramento from Davis on the weekends. Has anyone ever done this on a bike? It’s a about 15 miles and I wanted to know how long it would take me to bike. Thanks.

What part of Sacramento? Maybe 90 minutes for 15 miles.

Going home every weekend will not be god for your college social life, meeting people, being involved, etc. Keep the “going home for the weekend” weekends to a minimum.

My house in Sacramento is 20 miles from campus. The first time I rode that route, it took me 2 hours. It depends on your level of fitness, your bicycle, and the heat.

There are buses that can take you to Sacramento for free. They’re called YoloBus and all you need is your AggieCard.

I know of someone who bikes home from Davis to Sacramento every day :0 Not sure how he likes doing that, though. Lol

The YoloBus will only bring you as far as downtown and my experience so far with Regional Transit in Sacramento has been very mediocre. But it will save you quite a lot of bike miles, and if you can get a spot on the bike rack you should be all set. Not sure yet how tough that is during the school year.

On the facebook UCD transfer page, someone is commuting from San Jose to Davis (two days a week), another from SF to Davis, and a few others from Fairfield, etc. I myself am commuting from Sac everyday but I’m used to traveling and having a car. I don’t think I could bike from Davis to Sac though. I’d probably get as far as the Yolo fruit stand and fall unconscious on I-80 lol.

^Oh great; now I’m going to be checking for unconscious bikers on the causeway…

If you enter your exact departure and arrival places in google maps and select bicycle as your method of transportation it usually gives a good estimation of the duration of your commute. <a href=“Google Maps”>Google Maps;

I’ve ridden 15 miles from north Davis to Winters in 100 degree weather, accounting for the heat and stopping for water breaks every 10 minutes, it took me about an hour.
