It seems to be a year (for those enrolled in a terminal masters program) at most schools.. Are there any which takes 2 years to get the terminal masters degree?

Also, for PhD candidates, when do they get their masters, after a year or 2?

It depends, if you're not doing a research thesis you can get done in 2-3 semesters. If you are doing a thesis, 4 semesters is typical. PhD candidates will need to do a thesis which means 4 semester/2 years.

If you are industry bound, there's no reason why you should waste an extra year getting your MS. Sign up for a 1 yr program - get in, get out, stamp on you resume that you got your advanced degree. It will help with promotions, etc.
