How long was your essay? If you submitted one.

Is 670 words too long?

bump 10char

No .

Mine was 799. I know because I needed to delete one word for it to be my QuestBridge essay. I also sent an “addendum” as per the application, and that was probably 450.

mine was about 500

500 or a little less

I think mine was about 500. Basically, a five paragraph essay.

Submitted the same essay as my main common app essay… it was around a page double spaced… so like 400ish words? It was pretty much short and sweet… but if you had more to say without being redundant, then I’m sure it’s fine. The main idea is not to bore the hell out of the admissions officer, I really don’t think length matters as long as you’re keeping their interest.

^ Yup.

Mine was 500-600 words.

Mine was about 870.

DS’s was 775…and we know it helped because he had gotten a letter saying his application had been reviewed and they were going to set it aside and revisit it later and advised him to send more info to help them get to know him AND he got an acceptance letter Saturday. He also sent recommendations from the principal at his HS and his HS teacher in his intended major.

College essay or cover letter, doesn’t matter, more than one page is overdoing it.
