Just wondering. One of my friends was around 1000, another's was at only 480.

Mine was almost 900 words.

As of now my essay is 900 words and lacks a conclusion. I only covered one topic, and wanted to advise the leader I chose on at least two. Right now, though, I think it’s a pretty strong essay on a single-issue topic.

Disregard that. After a considerable amount of revisions it is now a single-issue debate that totals 2,166 words :> Thank god they didn’t specify a word limit. I feel like this paper really outshines my personal statement. It’s a shame I can’t use it for every application this year.

500-600
There isn’t word limit.
But I think that AOs will get bored reading so long an essay.
they may got busy on application season

Therefore, since brevity is the soul of wit,
And tediousness the limbs and outward flourishes,
I will be brief.

-Hamlet, Act II, Scene 2 - Wm. Shakespeare.

I have no idea how many admissions counselors there are at CMC, but with over 4,200 applications to slog through I doubt that excessively long essays are viewed as an asset. People are rarely the compelling authors they think themselves to be, so my advice is to keep it short and to the point or risk having the reader merely stop after 500 words.

Wow, 2000 words…

Mine’s 580 ish, and I thought that was a decent length.

As stated above, anything over 600 words will begin to bore the AOs. Keep it to about a page.

One data point: student accepted last year, essay was just under 800.

Mine is 641 words- a full page. good luck to everyone!

Mine is looking like its going to come out to about 500 words/it’s in the form of a letter…

Was accepted last year and my essay was about a page single spaced, times new roman size 12.
