How long will it take to hear what I get from FAFSA?

I sent FAFSA in yesterday and was wondering on average how long it takes to hear from your schools. Mine was sent to The Ohio State University and The University of Arizona.

You don’t actually get money from FAFSA (although you should have been able to see your EFC when you submitted). The college actually decides on your financial aid package. But not all colleges meet full need or calculate need the same way the FAFSA does. Your college has to decide whether to admit you and put together your FA package. You can check the financial aid website for first year students for each school and see what it says about when the schools send out FA information.

Did you complete fasfa with 2012 income. I’m just wondering as I haven’t started yet as I thought I would need parents 2012 income tax return?

Dawnidib,
I’m pretty sure my parents filled it out with their 2012 tax information.

You put in some actuals from 2012 return (which your parents should have, that is two years ago), and estimates of 2013. Then you can submit the FAFSA. Once the actual 2013 returns are done, there is a way to have the FAFSA go pull the actual 2013 tax info from the returns at the IRS (it is super easy). So don’t dawdle, get the FAFSA in with estimates.
