I self studied AP Chem, starting about January last year and got a 5. It does depend on your aptitude for the subject, and I don't know exactly how well IB prepares you for the AP since my HS didn't have IB, but I imagine it should be pretty similar.

It really depends on how well your course prepares you. My honors physics class is equivalent to an AP Physics B class so I would be well prepared for that test but would fail miserably on the C test. Also I'd think it would be a lot harder to self study physics and chem since a lot of it is concept based instead of simple memorization but I'm sure many have been successful w/ self-studying those tests.

ok. dont do physics now man. theres no way you will finish (with the information retained in your brain). calc is a possiblility though. depends on your background

I'd say you can self-study all of them.

You basically only need to know two things for calculus: how to derive and how to integrate.

You just need to memorize equations for physics...

Chemistry is probably the hardest out of those, but even that wouldn't be too hard. There's many little things that books leave out (at least my book--it might be unique in that aspect, though), but perhaps Barron's or w/e would cover those.

I'm in all three of these classes (AP) this year, but I haven't gone to school since November, so I'm essentially self-studying, and it's easy so far...

Chemistry is some memorization unfortunately. concepts are the best, so calc would be the easiest, i think. your 'math hl' class leaves me puzzled though. I don't know what level that is (I'm not familiar with IB), so maybe you wouldn't be able to do calc ab or bc. I have no idea about physics. But like I said, I think Calc AB is ridiculously easy (BC is sort of hard though), so I think you could effectively self-study for it.

Agreed with ^.

Physics c is difficult and does not just require you to "memorize equations" as iin77 said. However, I do not know about physics b. Perhaps this is what iin77 was referring to?.

Chemistry is not hard. No way. Indeed, it is very easy with simple equations and concepts. Frankly I am bored studying it. (I am self-studying it now). However, as said above, it requires quite a bit more of memorization than, say, physics c.

Calc BC is doable in this time, if you have a solid calculus background (i.e. already learnt and understood most of differentiation and its applications) I do not know about calc ab, but I would imagine that it is quite easy.
