My son had his transcripts sent from the university where he has taken dual enrollment cllasses before he submitted his online application (sometime in September). The online status check still shows not received. I know mail is backed up but this was sent well before the deadline. Cause for worry?

It also shows that FSU has not received transcripts from a second university at which he is taking classes this semester. He called admissions before the deadline and explained that he is currently enrolled in and taking a class this semester at that university but has not received any grades yet. The admissions person said that they did not need transcripts from that school yet. But on the website it still lists this university and says transcript needed. Do we go with what the admissions person said or should we be concerned that this will keep his application froim being reviewed?

He is a strong student and FSU is his first choice. He does not even want to apply anywhere else. I'd hate for him to lose out on a technicality!

My daughter was taking dual enrollment classes last year when she applied to FSU. They did not need transcripts for her current courses, only completed courses. If he is accepted, his admission will be contingent on successfully completing his currently enrolled classes. At the end of the school year, FSU will want his high school and new dual enrollment transcripts. As for his dual enrollment classes taken last year, FSU needs them. Has he checked with the dual enrollment university that they were actually sent? (My daughters were not at the end of last year, even though it was requested and paid for.) When did he submit his application? Has FSU had time to link his transcripts with his application? I read that FSU received 10,000 applications last week alone.

I did check with the dual enrollment university and they were sent on August 29. He officially submitted his FSU application online on September 29, but I believe the essay and resume went in about a week later. The thing that worries me is that they received his highschool transcript and that was sent out about three weeks after the university transcripts. Maybe I’ll wait another week and then have him call if it still doesn’t show up. I know they are probably swimming in applications right now.

Sunnyflorida posted this on a recent thread (from FSU online status check login page):

On the ONLINE STATUS CHECK page

Announcements

Our incoming mail has increased rather dramatically due to our rapidly approaching first freshman deadline. Please allow at least 10-15 business days for mail to be processed and posted to your Online Status Check (OSC). If you have already requested your transcript be sent, and it is not currently reflected on your OSC, please do not have another one sent. This will only delay the processing of your file. We appreciate your patience during the month of October.

You are just outside of the 15 days. Personally, I would call by mid-week if his status is not updated.

The high school transcripts may have been sent electronically, if he is in state. That was my impression of how my daughter’s high school transcripts were sent to in state schools.
That may be why they were reflected on his status page so quickly.

We’re out of state so everything has been sent by regular mail. But I think you’re right, I’ll have him call Wednesday if it still shows as not received. Thanks!

I keep seeing posts about it saying that your application is “complete”? I’ve also heard mention of it saying somewhere on the status check page “You will find out of you got in on December 14th” once everything has been completed?

If I look at the status check page, there doesn’t appear to be anything missing but I also don’t see a spot for the actual applications status? One would think there would be an area that said: “all materials recieved, application being reviewed” or something to that effect?

Do I just assume it’s all in process if nothing appears to be missing?

Thanks…

My son is in the same boat as Mr Fritz ^^^ As of today it shows that everything is there but there is nothing that says it is complete or that he will hear by Dec 14. Where are those messages?

I believe those messages occur only after your file has been reviewed and a decision made.

Well… as of yesterday, a section was added to my son’s status page which says that he will receive a decision Dec14!

As noted by others, I guess it all just had to be reviewed and someone from admissions had to lay eyes on the materials to make sure they were all in fact there.

Here’s hoping!

I suggest calling for anyone who is unsure if their application materials have all been received. I called for my son and apparently all of his documents were there, they were just logged in the wrong place. The admissions officer fixed everything while we were on the phone and now everything is set. His application is now ready for decision review.

I found the admissions staff at FSU to be very friendly and helpful, which is especially noteworthy considering how many applications they have received.
