I'm really feeling the senioritis take on. I have never been the best student; since junior year, I have been getting A's and B's. I am relying on my extracurricular to help me get into top tier colleges.

I barely managed to pull a B in calc first semester as it is not my best subject. I am currently getting a C-, and although there is still a whole semester, I find it pretty difficult for me to pull it up. How much will it hurt to have that C? I have 3 AP's total, and I am currently getting B's in my other AP's. I expect easy A's for my regular courses. Does anyone know how strict admissions are with the C and what would make it or break it if I get accepted but possibly rescinded after?

Idk if this is a different situation or not but my friend got accepted to Tufts a year ago and she got a C on one of her finals…and got a warning letter from Tufts. She still got accepted though.

That’s relevant. I don’t see the point of sending warning letters out though. Other than grades, nothing else can really earn you another penalty. (correct me if I’m wrong)

^ oh absolutely other things can… any sort of disciplinary action (cheating for example or attendance) can absolutely penalize you after acceptance (or before).

Your final information will be reassessed before acceptance is “guaranteed”.

It’s unlikely that you’ll get rescinded for having one C - at least, assuming that you manage to get in with B’s in all of your AP classes and regular classes populating the rest of your schedule. At any rate, keep those extracurriculars good and try to seek out a tutor.

sjong21, while you may be right, you have to consider that someone who has gotten into Rice is probably an A/B student. One terrible grade in second semester of senior year often shows a lack of effort and a bad attitude.

On the Rice Admitted Students chat tonight, the admissions officer said they were looking for your grades to stay at roughly the same level they were at for your entire high school career.
