Is a 670-CR and 710-Math and 680-Writing too low for Yale?

you need a RealityCheck if u think u can get in with those scores...

They're kind of low, but not applying at all is a bad idea.

It depends on your ethnicity and whether or not you are a) a recruited athlete or b) a kid of parents who can donate a few million to Yale. If you are white or Asian and not either a) or b), they are much lower than Yale averages.

albertfermat1 - Thanks for the honestly :o)

hillier - do you think they'd balance out if everything else was pretty awesome?

quiltguru - uh oh. I'm not a or b and I'm Asian. Haha.

hey sats are not everything. I read on this board that a guy got into yale last year with a 1290 - he was not a recruit or anything.
sat's are important but not THAT important.. trust me i've seen stranger things happen

My daughter is a freshman at Yale. Her SAT scores were 690 for Math and 710 for English (no writing requirement last year). While the SAT is important, it is only one factor. Don't give up without trying.

look at the older scea thread... there were a few 1380s and < 1400s.. but not many.

a 1400 is considered VERY solid, so that is kinda like the medium.

I strongly believe the SAT isn't everything. I'm a bad standardized test taker myself. 1350 + 740 W (750+ on SAT IIs) I still beleive I stand a good shot at these Ivies with great interviews, recs, essays, and supplementary material. It's the profile, not the scores. Remember! The person, not the numbers!

newyorker, good on you.

don't worry, my friend got into Yale ( chose to go to stanford) with a 1390 on his SAT's last year doing SCEA...don't worry, you'll be fine. Thank god most applicants aren't like CC'ers...lol

i'll 2nd that. :)

"SATs are less important than most applicants think, but more important than any admissions officer will ever admit."

Was was special about that friend of yours who got accepted to both Yale and Stanford?

He claims that he just wrote a really good and humorous essay, but I know that the fact that he did a serious engineering internship and was a first chair violist may have influenced the adcoms' decision...

I got in with a 1250. If the rest of your applicaiton is strong, you'll get in.

omg really??? a 1250 - thrs still hope for me then!!
congrats seattle!
what do u think allowed u to get accepted.. URM, legacy, or just a really great app.??

seattle are you a UMR?
1250 accepted? crazy
but congrats

I'm neither a UMR or a legacy. if you've got your **** together, you've got a chance. Really, they take account for your whole application.

haha nice

i'm considering applying to yale but im fearful that my 1200 sat score wont be enough.. i'm retaking it in december though..
