Nice move (and typical for you) to attack the poster when you can't really dispute the facts in the post.

uh, how is it typical. Look through my post history, I don't "attack" other people.

And I'm not disputing the facts. They are certainly very clear. The point is, is it worth discussing them over and over? It doesn't make a difference. dear goodness, it's just college admissions. There ARE people who get in without having the slightest inkling of these statistics. All I'm saying is, what do you really accomplish by trying to beat every number into the ground...

Look, if you aren't interested in the topic, just move on.

Why do you feel the need to insert youself into the discussion for the purpose of sneering at other people who DO find it interesting?

Who elected you the Ayatollah of the Harvard page?

Just cool it.

you're avoiding my question. whatever, yes, good idea, i should just ignore these threads in the future.

"Who elected you the Ayatollah of the Harvard page?" Girls can't be the Ayatollah.

Ayatollah- that was just a figure of speech. And your question was clearly avoided because there was absolutely no worth in spending any second of their precious time answering such a worthless question.

And you said you were avoiding these threads, yet here you are arguing, posting nearly 3 times CONSECUTIVELY.

hahvahd,hahvahd,hahvahd... just type their damn name. Harvard. Was that so difficult?

yes, because the people at the admissions office refer to it as hahvahd, i'm just trying to spell phonetically.

lol, I love a boston accent

That's like black people referring to each other using the "N" word; its OK for them to say it, but its not OK for you!

Byerly:

Do you have any stats for kids applying to elite school with 1600 SAT1 and SAT II with 800/800/800?

No, I haven't seen any such stats, and the number of such applicants would presumably be small. (There were only 939 last year who got 1,600 on the SAT I.)

I believe (although I can't cite a link) that the admit rate for 1,600s at Harvard was 40% last year or the year before.

If you want some evidence of the geometric rise in the admit rate at every school as SAT scores also rise, see "The Early Admissions Game".

"Early Admission Game" Is it a movie or a book or a website link or another thread? Care to explain. Thanks

I think you can get it through Amazon.com

Some earlier studies on the topic by one or more of the authors, plus Hoxby, et al, are available online. (NPER).
