<p>@bobtheboy - My son’s school doesn’t offer Calc BC. It’s a pretty weak school - that’s why he is trying to wrap things up with APs as a 10th grader and then study abroad or transfer. My only concern is how much self-studying he’ll have to do since I doubt his teachers will do much to prepare students for exams.</p>
<p>@ OP, If you plan on going to a state school then it makes sense to take the dual credit English class and pay $250+ but if you plan to go to a private then it makes more sense to take the AP course and then decide whether you want to pay the $87 exam fee. It’s true that you probably won’t get exempted from an English course with a strong AP lit score. All the schools we’ve looked at have been more interested in AP lang. Either course will be considered “challenging” when colleges review your transcript. Since you will be a senior, your AP score won’t be relevant to admissions.</p>
