Hey guys, I’m interested in knowing the number of students Penn accepts from one high school each year.

Traditionally, Penn takes 1-3 each year from my school, but this year there are 2 recruited athletes and a valedictorian in the mix along with myself and a few others. We aren’t all applying to the same colleges but I am really nervous about my chances given the usual number of accepted students at my school.

So, what are the numbers for your school or other schools you know about? I know Cornell took almost 40 kids from one regular public high school in New York last year.

1!
Traditionally, only about 3 apply and 2 gets in.

We are in the south so we dont really send that many kids to North. Most of our students go to either Duke or North Carolina, sprinkled in are about 10 Ivy-goers and a a handful to stanford, CalTech, and MIT.

my school sucks...everybody has such low ambitions...thery're all going to a community college and say they they will transfer later...the truth is, they're not smart enuf to get into a good college now-or later. im the only one that even applied to an ivy league school in my entire class- not that im better than them, but at least i want to do something better with my life. Even our valdictorian is going to a community college

krinshnasb you took the words right out of my mouth. I'm the third one who ever applied to Stanford from my school second one in history to apply to Penn and not sure about Harvard and Yale but if I get in I'll be the first one to get in if I do. I'm the only one who applied to and Ivy in my class and only one of three to apply to UVA. Everyone else is going to communtiy college or easy colleges.

Last year, there were 5 or 6 kids who applied early, two were accepted and one was deferred and then accepted. Then there was an additional 18-20 kids who applied regular and there were 5-6 accepted. However, this year there were 8-9 kids who applied early (myself included), but I was the only one deferred, everyone else was rejected. There were an additional 23 kids who applied regular and I am just hoping that my school has some people accepted and I am hoping that Penn looks favorable upon my previous commitment to Penn, but only time will tell.

you guys are really lucky. we have a 99% graduation rate, 80% go onto college of some sort, and of those, about 65% go straight to a four-year college. practically 40 people apply to each ivy league from our school, sometimes even more.

Do you think that the number of people accepted will change this year drastically considering how much of penn's class was filled by ed applicants?

our school isn't usually that great with colleges. we usually send two or three to ivies each year (usually cornell). three years ago we sent two to harvard and one to stanford and we had a few cornells too. two years ago... not a single ivy. last year, two cornells. this year- one columbia ED, and probably two HYPS, a few georgetowns, a lot of other top schools. our class is amazing. oh yeah, then there's me. i hope i make my school proud :)

The only Ivy we have ever sent anyone to has been Penn and it was only one kid 5 years ago. We've sent two kids to Stanford though. Thats it. Unfortunately, I'm the only one who has applied to get rejected from Stanford from my school and if I'm rejected from Penn I'll be the only kid out of the 2 that have ever applied to be rejected. Great stats for me aren't they lol
