Son applied to 9 and was admitted to all. He visited 7 before applying. He only attended the admitted students day of his top choice.

D attended the admitted student day for the school she ended up attending.

Timing of the Accepted Student Days will affect your decision. You can only handle so many visits/days away from school in a short period of time. Our DD attended admitted student days at only her top 3 choices; it was a huge help in narrowing down to a final decision. That seemed realistic since she had visited each school to which she later applied - most as junior or in fall of senior year. She would never have applied anywhere she had not visited.

No Accepted Student Days but both were going to big instate public universities so had a general idea of what to expect. S1 and his best friend spent a weekend w/ friends fr. h.s. at their univ. in the spring of senior yr. S2 went on a regular tour after he was accepted.

We visited all the schools D2 applied to prior to application, so she is comfortable that she could attend any of them if she decides to. Of the 8 applications, there are realistically 4 top choices. One is quite close to home, so easy to zip to another visit (it is probably 4th on the list, too). She will probably attend accepted students days at all 3 of the others if she gets in (into 1 top choice so far). They are pretty even on her list, and it has been 18 months since her visits. So she will be taking one more look before deciding.

D1 only went to accepted students day at one school, but she was pretty sure about it before she went. The visit sealed the deal, and she happily attended and graduated last spring.

With DS2 he applied to 7 schools, has been admitted to 6 with the last scheduled to release decisions this Friday. Of those he had been on tours of three schools before applying. He has eliminated 2 of the schools without visiting. We did an admitted student day last weekend and plan on another one this Saturday. The school he hasn’t heard from yet is his first choice but will be a pretty big reach. He says that if he finds out he gets in on Friday then that’s where he’s going and does not want to visit the last school. Luckily it’s just a few hours away so it’s just a day trip.

With DS1 who graduated in 2010 he was accepted to 5 schools. Three were instate that we had already visited and 2 were on the East Coast. So over spring break we visited the last 2. One of the schools happened to have an admitted day for his scholarship during that time and at the other we just did the general campus tour. He ended up attending the East Coast school where he had gone to admitted student day.

I often wonder if he had gone to admitted days at the other schools if that would have made any difference in his selection.

None. As an ED admit, she was not invited to the admitted student day.

S attended accepted students reception in our state. He wasn’t invited to nor did he attend any others. He was adamantly opposed to visiting any campuses. He was very happy at his U. D only applied as a transfer to one U–the one S attended. She did go to transfer orientation on the week school was beginning. Both kiddos have no regrets.

Are finances an issue? Visiting a lot of schools in a short period of time sounds exhausting to me. All Us have to notify by 4/1. At this point sounds like it might be worth waiting. If 1 choice is clearly above others, have her give nudge to HS counselor and maybe he can nudge that U.

My sister and her eldest did visit all her accepted Us and changed priorities based on visits. 1st choice sank to bottom.

K1 didn’t attend any…got into 1st choice and didn’t see the need.

K2 may attend some… k2 is a 2014 grad… so time will tell.

Applied to 8 schools, accepted to 7 so far, have/will do 4 Admitted students days.
