How many and which ones?

Hi guys, I'm taking the SAT Subject Tests in October. How many should I take? 3?4? and which ones?

Right now, I'm thinking I'll take Math II, Literature and French in Oct and maybe Physics in November. What do you guys think?

You can take at most three subject tests in one sitting. Any more and you’ll have to pick another test date (and pay more).

Take the ones that you are best at.

If you take a language one, take the listening test.

What is your intended major? Choose subject tests based off of that (ex: engineering: math/physics).

If you can help it, don’t take three. I never booked 3 for my daughters, 2 are max. Give yourselves the best chances to score high.

im going to be a social science major.

Should I take French, Lit and Math II in October? Or should I take Lit and Math in Oct and French w/ listening in november?

If you want to take three, take them all in the same sitting. You pay some flat fee (forgot how much), then $10 per test.

is there a huge difference b/w french and french w/ listening for colleges??

$10 is nothing in the scheme of things.

ok, I think I’ll do that then. take Math II and Lit in October and French w/ Listening in September.

No Subject Tests are offered in September. Language with Listening tests are offered only in November (actually, in November, Language with Listening tests are the ONLY language tests offered).

I don’t think Language with Listening vs. Language without Listening is a big factor in college admissions. If you’re a native speaker, the listening portion may help your grade; if not, it may hurt. Frankly, I think the biggest difference between listening and non-listening tests is the cost (listening tests cost more than do non-listening ones).

Also, 3 Subject Tests in one sitting is very manageable. There are some AP exams that are as long or longer than 3 Subject Tests combined (e.g. Art History).

yeah, sorryi meant november.

Re: Listening tests, thats what I was apprehensive about. I’m not a native but have been studying french for a while. However, listening is much harder than reading, writing and speaking. I’d prefer to be over and done with the subject tests before the EA deadlines, so if you think it’s manageable, i’ll take it. Plus, it can’t be any worse than the SAT itself.
