My schedule for Junior year right now stands as follows:
AP Physics C- M,C,E
AP Macroeconomics
IB Spanish
AP Calc BC
Adv. Expository writing, Creative writing
One spot left (undecided)
Should I either add another AP class or should I take a “slacker” class to get work done in. Note: Adv. Expos and creative writing don’t take a lot of time.
What are the AP class options?
@ambers58 lit, bio, chem, env science, any history class, or psych (which I was planning on self studying). I could be forgetting something, but I think that another science would be too overwhelming.
Do you have a specific passion? Because that’s where I would start when choosing.
Personally, in your position, I’d choose a history class just to even up the schedule with a social science.
@ambers58 I’m planning on going into something in the FAME category. That is: Finance, accounting, Management, Economics respectively. But I’m not completely sold on the whole idea yet. I could easily still change my mind and decide to work towards majoring in physics, which is why I kept my schedule so broad and not too based on one area of study.
Well is there a “slacker” elective related to those topics? Do one of those happen to interest you?
If not, I think that you should take a history class (whichever one you want), mainly because from what I know, competitive colleges recommend three years of history or social sciences.
@ambers58 isn’t Econ considered a social science?
Oh I suppose so. At my school it doesn’t fall under social science for some reason. At least, that’s how it is organized in the handbook.

Not sure if your school is the same way, but mine would consider AP Macro as more of an elective and they would suggest another history class like APUSH or AP Comp Gov or AP US Gov. Then you would truly have science, foreign language, english, math, and history fields covered-plus an elective. I don’t know, that just may be my school though! If not, then I think the schedule looks great! Are there any business classes you could take at your local CC?
