How many AP courses are enough?

<p>I wanted to know how many AP courses throughout high school are enough to be considered competitive for Ivy League-calibur schools assuming your school offers around 15 AP courses. Would 13 make much of a difference compared to "only" 11?</p>

I would say 13 doesn't make that much of a difference over 11. It DOES matter for ivies, however.</p>

<p>I'd say...10. (Assuming they're all 5's, an AP that's not a 5 is worthless IMO)</p>

<p>1-4 is above average
4-7 is Over achiever
7-10 Ivy Material
10+ you need a life.</p>

<p>0-3: DEE-DEE-DEE
4-6: Underachiever
7-9: Average(Lower Ivy Material aka Cornell, Brown, and Dartmouth)
10-12: Good(Middle Ivy Material aka UPenn and Columbia)
13-15: Very Good(Top Ivy Material aka Harvard, Yale, and Princeton)
14-16: Overachiever
17-19: CC GENIUS
20-35: OK even CC girls, or should I say Asian females basically;), would tell you to get a life</p>

<p>There are tons of kids who got into the Ivy leagues without AP classes. Take as many as you want to, they don't count for much, but your GPA does, so protect that.</p>

<p>hahah, evil asian dictator, that's totally true. Finale took 17 AP tests and she's a freaking genius. But this AP tests aren't everything. My brother, who is currently attending Harvard, took only 5 tests.</p>

<p>Yeah, there are a bunch of honors courses at my hs, so my GPA is pretty high, but I am still going to take as many APs as I can.</p>
