I keep wondering this question.. I thought I had taken a lot, but when I got on CC it seemed as though the norm here is way more!
So far I have taken:
AP World-5
AP Us- 5
AP- Enviro- 4
AP Psych- 5

My senior year I will take:
AP Chem
AP Calc AB
AP Calc BC
AP Lang

I also took the Human Geo exam of this is helpful, and got a 4.

I am enrolled in a community college course senior year as well, but does AP look better?? I can try to switch into that instead.

Also, if it looks like I haven't taken enough, I can take AP Gov online. Do online courses look good? Should I even bother?

Do some APs look better than others? I heard on CC that Psych and Enviro are the "joke" APs, but I took them because they were interesting and the teachers were the best...

Thanks so much if you can answer any of these questions, I am stressed out!

Some of the selective schools I am applying to are as follows. Have a taken a challenging enough course load to get into these???? (This is disregarding GPA and SATs, which are both good.)

JHU
Colgate
Haverford
Bowdoin
U of Rochester
Oberlin
Lehigh
Brown
*maybe PennU

Thank you so much!!!!!!

Not sure what this does but…

BUMP!

Hmm… Well I think my school offers about 12, and I would have taken 8 (or 9 if I take AP Gov) by the time I graduate. My weighted gpa is also in the top 5% of my class, of that helps (9 out of 234, I think)

What do you guys think- should I take AP gov? Or I might just take the Exam cause I am really good at government and history. But I heard that this doesn’t look as good…
Will colleges care that I took the AP human geo test without the class, assuming I report my score?

You should be fine. My D’s school offer 15 but some are foreign languages that for sure you cannot take them all. So the maximum one could take is only 12 assuming there is no time conflict and have all the pre-requisite met. From your school profile, you can tell what is the average number of AP classes taken by other students at your school. If you are far beyond that number, you are fine. The average for my D’s school is ~3 while she will have 7. By the way, why are you taking both AP Calc AB and BC?

My school offers only two AP classes! They mostly offer regular advanced… but no AP. I’m pretty sure it would be good enough since it’s based on what my school offers.

as long as you are challenging yourself and you can do well on them, take as many as you’re comfortable with, relative to what your school offers.

My son took three. He was allowed to take one junior year and two senior year. I am envious of all the information that other schools provide on their school profiles, ours is very simple, no average number of aps or gpa ranges. But admissions counselors for your area will hopefully be familiar with your school and what they offer, therefore whether your schedule is rigorous for your high school.
