Next year I will be a senior, and I am currently in the process of chosing my classes for next year. I plan on taking:

AP English Lit
AP Government
AP Calculus
AP Chemistry
AP Physics
AP Psychology
French 3

My friends have all told me that I am taking too many APs. I am trying to decide whether or not to take Shakespeare Honors instead of AP Psych and AP Statistics instead of AP Calculus? Any thoughts?

Only you know what too many APs are for you. Your objectives should be to get at least 3’s, if not 4’s and 5’s, on all those exams, so keep that in mind. You are taking these classes with the intent of credit. Also, how much time are you willing to spend on prep [if your school is mediocre such as mine with low pass rates]?
I am taking AP Lit, and it is kicking my butt [despite a 5 in Lang], but that should not discourage you. Perhaps I will be able to pull a 4 if I do prep.
AP Govt is relatively easy as long as you know governmental theory and memorize some of the constitution.
AP Chem [from a friend taking it] is pretty hardcore. It’s a lot of problem-solving skill and requires a definite understanding of the material…a very in-depth understanding, no less.
That’s all I know about the APs you have listed. Best of luck! x

You should take into account the quality of these APs. Like AP Lit isn’t that hard. Just reading and writing. I heard AP Psych is the easiest to self study, so if taken as a class it’ll probably be easy too. But don’t forget that you still have work in that class! If you’re a math person, Calc shouldn’t be too hard either. I don’t know if you’re taking AB or BC, but BC will require a little more work. Physics and Chem will require the most work. Gov’t is just memorization.
And like Vertigo220h says, only you know how much is too much. Think about how much work each of these classes have, ask around. If you find this is all too much, then substitute in AP Stat. You’d get AP credits and it’s pretty easy to learn. Good luck!
