Hi, I'm only taking three AP's in my junior year - Bio, Comp (I think some people call it AP English), and USH. I was thinking of adding something on the side, like Art History, Stat, World History, or Psychology. I took an online AP Psych course over the summer on through the internet but I don't feel like it's enough for me to take the AP test.
My school allows students to take APs beginning as sophomores (max. 2 for 10th grade, unlimited after that) so I've only taken one so far. If I were to consider applying to schools like Columbia or Brown, should I be taking more AP's? I have a bunch of ec's - science research (applying to Siemens), music (I was a finalist in an international music competition), sports, and lots of clubs/honor societies.
Any help would be appreciated :)

2-3 is standard for top students at my school. Virtually everyone takes Lang (English) and USH, and most of them also have Bio, Calc, or Chem.

i took 3... enlighsh lang. and comp., us history, and environmental science

At my school one is the norm for a junior though that's due in part to a limited selection [Bio, Gov, Chem, Music Theory, or Studio Art], but then in senior year the norm is three or four, so...

im taking apush, bio, and spanish this yr

I have four

I only took 2 - AP Chem and APUS :P

pt- so + apus that's five in the list? if you can cope with 5, i'd say go for it. But also consider your school's difficulty with APs. i mean, my school has a reputation for hard ap classes, so i chose 3. also, if apush interests you (if you like us history in general, id say give it a try)

I have two-Ap Bio and Ap English.

I took 5 junior year. It's manageable.

As a Junior, I am taking 5.

i'll be taking two when i'm a junior...US History and French. those are the only ones available to juniors, most are for seniors.

My school only offers two AP's to juniors. AP U.S. history and AP Comparative Government. So the norm would be 0-1. Senior year 1-2. My senior year I am taking 4 AP's. Junior year I am studying APUSH in school and then self-studying AP Comp Gov, AP U.S. Government & Politics and AP Psyc.

the norm at my school is 0, but a couple take AP American History

I haven't taken any and I'm a junior. But why does school allow basically anyone into AP, but only few into Gifed..

I will be taking all APs and college courses.

Tomare todos APs y classes de la universidad.

my school has block scheduling usually allowing for 4 APs at the most. Junior year 3 is the top (mostly), 2 is avg for a top student, 1 is do-able for a top student. Senior year the avg prob moves up to 2.5

I'm doing five as a junior, but one of them's studio art so yeah...Some kid at my school's doing six since he had to quit a language due to schedule problems.

I would say the average for CC-kids is three-ish.

Most at my school have one (Am. Hist.) jr. year 'cause the others have pre-requsites & basically in the end it works out so you have most of the APs senior year instead of more jr year or an even balance between the two years.

At my school, you have to take 4 between your junior and senior year, so most people take two junior year and two senior year. I am in IB so i am taking AP World History and next year as a Sophmore, i take AP Euro History
