How many APs?

LOL...I scored 5 on the English AP, but my CR was 650. bangs head

Nice post OP.

BTW, this reminds me of my stupid decision to take AP Bio this year. I'm 96% sure I'm ending up with a C this first semester, and is and it definitely screwed up my 1st sem. GPA. Thanks BIO.

In my end of Soph year, I actually got a signature from my teacher that would let me take AP Bio and then at home I would decide if I truly wanted to take that class.

I KNEW I never had enthusiasm in the Sciences. Never. But it was my wrong mentality of "Oh more APs = good for colleges" that made me eventually take a class which, now, is by far the worst class I am ever taking. Have I read this thread, or if this topic was posted about a year ago, it would certainly have had helped me :)

i just took all the ones i could fit into my schedule:
soph-ap world hist
junior year-apstat, ap english III, ap psych, ap chemII, ap us hist
senior year-ap gov, ap macroecon, ap microecon, ap bioII, ap english IV, ap physics C, ap calc C

my school must suck or something. they only offer 6 ap classes.

"LOL...I scored 5 on the English AP, but my CR was 650. bangs head"

I'm worse. I scored a 5 on English AP and got a 610 CR. Lovin it.

SAME! 4 Junior year (AP Lang) and 5 Senior year (AP Lit) and got a 630 on my CR...stupid SAT!
I took 8 APs total (Soph: World History Junior: Eng Lang, US History Senior: Eng Lit, Comp & US Gov't, Calc AB, Physics)
not too bad, i graduated with an AP diploma which just means I got an extra, shiny sticker on my diploma. Even with 5 APs senior year, still graduated with a 4.2 senior year, it was awesome...only a 3.6 overall though which stinks

I'm the opposite: 3 on the AP but 740 on the SAT

^^ These tests are apparantly weird.

Oh and shoebox...I was wondering, is the Lit test that much different from the Lang. I got a 5 on the Lang...and I know that doesnt mean I will automatically do well on the Lit...but my teacher this year stinks...we havent even talked about the AP test yet.

What were the significant differences and was one area harder than the other? Was the MC/FR the same format/type of questions?

So far ive taken 9 and im currenlty a junior. I expect to have 14 by the time i graduate. Ive gotten all A's, however, in a few of them they are low a's b/c they are difficult and therefore my rank and gpa is hurt compared to my classmates who take only the common aps. How will this hurt me

^^ Does your school use a -/+ system or something? At my school, it doesn't matter how low of an A it is, and A is an A.

And I really don't think there's such a thing as a 'common' AP. All of them are difficult in their own way, even if a lot of people take a certain AP test, that makes it hard to score high.

Therefore, they are all difficult.

ours is i think a 95 or above is a 4.0 and a 93 to 95 is a 3.5... When i mean common ap's im not really talking about the difficulty. At my school for instance a junior in common aps would mean ap us, gov, some sort of ap science, maybe ap calculus ab, and ap english. Uncommon ap's that barely anyone takes are ap statistics and ap computer science. I was the onlly sophomore to take ap stats and im the only juinor taking ap computer science along with 5 others. When i mean uncommon ap's, they do mean they are tougher at my school b/c very few people are in the class as it is, and the teacher is just that way... So although i may have a 93 it still hurts... doesnt seem fair, but thats l ife

This thread is a disadvantage to people who take classes that are better than APs but do not have that "AP" label.

No more, no less.

i think 5 or 6 is very good. (i only say because i will have completed 6 by graduation, haha). but seriously, no need in filling up all your slots with AP (i say above 10 is a bit much). you'll spread yourself thin. sure, some people are able to do it, but be ready to make some sacrifices (i.e. sleep, good social life, sports, etc.)

^^ Suppasonic -

While you'd like to think you're right, I think it's pretty clear you're wrong. First of all, if everyone follows your STUPID plan of just taking six, then we'll end up with a lot of 6s, and evidently, colleges will go to hell because of all the 6 AP exam scores they'll receive. Second of all, you're sentence doesn't make sense - I don't know what less means!!!! Less what? I know it's possible to take fewer tests, but taking less tests is more difficult. Finally, what if someone takes seven - WILL I LOOK BAD THEN?!

I think we can all see here that SEVEN, in fact, is the magic number.
