How many audition?

Does anyone know approximately how many people make it through the pre-screen process and get a live audition at Texas State???

Not exactly, but if you look at the callback info on the website, you will see that they can accommodate 40 slots on each of the 4 on-campus dates and 54 slots on each of the 2 Chicago Unified days (but that would mean going 9 hours with no break, so maybe 50 per day in Chicago is more realistic); so 160 on campus and 100 at Unifieds for a total of 260. They are looking for about 12 per class.

Have a great audition season!!!

I was there last year for Acting there were about 42 for drama and over 100 for MT.

Thanks for the info!!! Just curious…

typecast - this is audition information from the current MT site.

momamarino - The audition process evolves every year so when looking at schools, you need to look at the current year’s info as last year’s may be outdated. 3 years ago, prescreens were almost non-existant; 2 years ago, a handful of schools were doing prescreen; last year, many schools required prescreens; this year, it is very prevalent; before long, it will be the standard…

Oh I know that…since my D got a live audition with Texas State we’re just just wondering if anyone had a ballpark idea as to how many other people would be competing for the coveted few spots at Texas State that’s all.

Congrats!!!

Thank you!!! We’re just really disappointed that we can’t do the on-campus audition in December because she is in a show during that time. So we’ll have to wait until Chicago Unifieds. Would have been nice to go to Texas in December for a little break from the Pacific Northwest weather at that time of the year!!

I can’t speak for exactly how many audition, but (like do-what-u-luv said) I’m pretty sure they look for around 12 students in each class (12 acting / 12 MT).

My D attends TSU. Last year 600 applied and 12 were accepted. While Kaitlin and Jim are very demanding, they are also very nurturing. Good luck to all!

Failed to mentioned. My D is an MT major.

FYI - There were 33 at yesterday’s on-campus audition.

Agree with sandybella: very demanding and very nurturing, a winning combination!!!

My S is also auditioning for TSU in Chicago, maybe we will meet you there? We are from the NW too. To momarmarino…

To livelaughlove123: Nice to hear from a fellow Pacific NW person going to Chicago! I really wish we could have done more on-campus auditions but just not in the picture. Is your son just doing Unifieds or were you able to go to on-campus auditions too? What schools are on his list? Maybe our kids know each other…seems the drama world is smaller than we think!

Here’s another Pacific NW going to Chicago. My daughter is audition for TSU also.

To modg1234: Nice to know! What other schools are on her list? Maybe she has some others in common with my daughter.

momarmarino, she has 4 others. Ball State, Viterbo, CCM, and Ithaca. We are on a waiting list for Ithaca. That kind of got by us. It was like pulling teeth to get her to get her applications in before late November. I had told her she had to call Ithaca but somehow we forgot. We called yesterday. She is 3rd on a waiting list to audition. I guess we may find out we are not as prepared as we should be. I sometimes feel like I need to NOT read all the posts here, I start to hyperventilate because we haven’t used any audition coaches. And it sounds like she maybe should have had more than 5 schools on her list. Once she got the pre screening up (finally) for Texas they let her know right away (within 1/2 day) that she could audition.

She isn’t a brainy kid. Average SATs. She does have a natural talent and people like to watch her on stage. She has a pretty good resume including one professional show in Seattle. She had done community theater and won a regional choreography award for high school show. Her attitude is that she is going to be herself, show them who she is and if they don’t want her, she will do something else. That doesn’t mean there won’t be tears, I’m sure. LOL She did get accepted to Texas, Viterbo, and Ball state. We are beyond thrilled since she has been homeschooled. I don’t think there will be much merit scholarships, but we hope for some talent. (maybe?).

Maybe we can find away to meet up in Chicago. We fly out on Saturday. I am glad I did a day early. It was cheaper on Southwest to fly on Saturday. That will give us an extra day if the weather doesn’t cooperate.

I should add that she does take this very seriously. My post may have come across as she doesn’t care. Oh she does care and will be as professional as she can. And she is working carefully on her audition material.

modg1234: I private messaged you …let me know if you don’t get the message…

My S got to audition at one college and then the rest he will audition for at Chicago Unifieds. TSU is one of his top colleges he’d like to be considered for. From what we hear it would be a perfect fit for him! See you Sunday?

Best of luck livelovelaugh123! My son was asked for a 3rd song, so have one ready.
