How many can you get wrong on math to still get an 800?

Does it depend on the test?

Are we talking Math Level 1 or Math Level 2?

This is from an [old thread](General Curves - SAT Subject Test Preparation - College Confidential Forums), but its still fairly accurate:

sorry I didn’t clarify I meant the actual math portion of the SAT I’s.

This is the Subject Test forum. Anyhow, you can almost never miss anything and still get 800. Lately, -1 has been 770 (even 760 once).

i’m such a dummy sorry for posting this on the wrong one

Yeah I’ll second silverturtle. If you omit or get 1 wrong, you are looking at at 760-780.

then how did I get a 790?

^ -1 can result in 790. Lately, however, the curve has been harsher.

SAT Reasoning Math? Dunno. Freak curve I guess - must have been a tough test.

Ya this was 2 years ago

isn’t there about 54 questions on sat 1 math?

^ Yes, there are.

I think once there was a -1 = 800. lol. I can’t even fathom that nowadays…

damn. that’s a harsher curve than the math IC.

Yeah, I got a -1 on the SAT I math section and I got a 790.

^You two must have taken the same test. I assume that “-1 -> 790” is a once-in-a-blue-moon occurrence.

No, it didn’t use to be that uncommon. I, too, received 790 with -1 on the Math section (back in my freshman year).

Out of the 15 modern QAS tests, 60% (9) had a raw score of 53 correspond to 790 or higher on math. Limiting the tests to 2008 and later, though, yields 2/7 (30% or so) with -1 = 790+…

^interesting. thanks.
