This might be a weird question, but I see lots of 4.00, or close to that GPAs on college confidential. Is it just “easy” to get a 4.00, or is it that the majority of great students are on CC. I’ve seen a statistic that Mcintire (UVa business) didn’t reject a single person, who had a 4.00. So it can’t be that common, can it?
I can only speak for California community colleges but they have a reputation for being easier than high schools. For a lot of reasons it’s a lot easier to do very well in community college, so if you take it seriously and work hard you can probably get a 4.00, especially if you did relatively well in high school.
However, I think CC’s sample scewed and not a representation of all CC students.
Hey @Vincent1997! If, by ‘CC’, you mean college confidential, not community college, then there’s an obvious selection bias. If you mean community college…well, selection bias still applies.
@HStrange yeah I did mean college confidential lol
As far as community colleges having many students with 4.0s, does that apply to 4 year schools as well? I have a 4.0 at at a large ACC school and I’m wondering how rare that is/ how much it means in the transfer process.
I doubt lots have a 4.0. There’s a lot of luck involved to get a 4.0. I barely got two semesters of a 4.0 before two professors deliberately gave me a C and B.
Lots,of people want the regents scholarship, no loans ya know.
@JPNguyen What does the scholarship have to do with it? I am confused haha
@JPNguyen - Not to discredit you, but are you sure your professors “deliberately” gave you a C and a B? What is your proof? If you have evidence, why not appeal to the department chair or school board? IME, every school has a grade appeal mechanism in place.
And while some 4.0s may be the result of luck, that doesn’t mean you need luck to get a 4.0. There’s those people who happen to choose lax professors and happen to get an 89.6 instead of an 89.4, but there’s also those people who purposely choose hard professors and still get 99+ in every class.
