How many cell phone minutes?

Hi,
I just purchased a Samsung phone from Amazon with a T-mobile 600 minute/month plan with free nights and weekends. Do you guys think that this will be enough minutes for college, or will I be stuck with overage charges? For $6 ($40 vs. $46) more per month I can upgrade the anytime minutes to 1000 per month, do y'all think this would be a good idea to upgrade, or is that just unnecessary? I don't use the phone all that much, but I do plan to use it somewhat often and don't want to be stuck being short of minutes, which would definately happen if my Mom calls as often as she threatens to. :)

Any thoughts?

I have 800 minutes to split between me, my sister, and my mom. It is more than enough. Especially if you have free nights and weekends you should have plenty of minutes.

We have a Verizon family talk plan with 500 shared peak minutes per month, unlimited nights (9pm to 6 am),weekends, and IN calling to other verizon customers. The 500 minutes are shared among mom, dad, and 3 kids (2 of whom are in college and use this for their only phone). We have never gone over the 500 minutes.

yeah. you should be set with that many minutues. the free nights and weekends are what you'll use the most. 600 anytime will most likely be more than enough for you. but see how it goes for the first few months, and if it turns out that you do go over, then you can always upgrade your minutes to the 1000.

Find out what plan most of your buddies are on and get that plan, that way you won't use all of your daytime minutes. I got my buddy and my brother on the aforementioned Verizon Wireless IN plan. The bill for all 3 is around $130 a month, we get 1000 anytime minutes, every plan has unlimited txt and pictures messages. Its totally worth it.

i hardly ever used anytime minutes...just the unlimited nights and weekends, and the in network calls to other family members which were also free.

I'm not sure how often you use your phone, but I have the same plan and it works for me. You can always upgrade it later, even if it's under contract.

Yikes! I have 2000 minutes(with unlimited nights/weekends, texting, pictures, phone to phone, etc) but I talk ALOT. My sister and I share but she doesn't use as many as I do. My parents don't have a home line so all calling is via cell to them... then when I'm driving I'm always on the phone with someone... with a wireless headset, of course(it's illegal not to around here). I think we are normally around 1700-1800.

I say start with the 600 and track your usage... then upgrade if needed. It's alot easier to upgrade your package then it is to downgrade it.
