How many classes do the average Yale student take per term?..

Above ^
Would it be realistic to double major in EP&E and East Asian Studies?

4 or 5. You have to take five sometimes, but they don't recommend it for freshmen.

so... 8 + 10+10+10

38 courses... is that realistic for 2 majors which would need a total of 23 courses?

Sometimes 6.

Irock - EP&E is a very rigorous major that you have to apply for in your sophomore year, and they accept less than half of those who apply. It's a great program, however, and wonderful if it fits your interests.
I don't think you would/can double major with it, though, as it's already a combo of three disciplines.
Many kids do double major, but not with such a demanding one. Often they complement each other in some way.
Half of the time you will need to take 5 courses, and the other half, 4, or some other combo that equals that (38) after 4 years. Some classes with labs give you one and 1/2 credits, and sometimes (rarely) kids might take 6 one quarter. Classes at Yale are not easy. The one brilliant kid I know who took six classes his first semester really regretted it.
The biggest problem you will have with double majoring is that there are so many wonderful classes to take, you won't have much flexibility because you have to fill major requirements for two majors. It really limits your exploring and taking classes for fun.

Do you think it would be realistic to do Political Science and East Asian Studies double major?...

Sure. I think that would work pretty well. Do you have a "Blue Book" yet? You'll get one at bulldog days and you can pour over the catalog and see how many courses are required for each major and just how realistic it might be.
