How many clothes should I bring?

"You also don’t wash your pants so… "

You’re gonna have to be more specific since plenty of people in this thread have stated that they wear their jeans mulitple times before washing them.

There she goes again.

Which version of your post would you like me to answer? This one or the new one?

Wait so Plattsburghlover and WantsBrown, if you only brought 5 pairs of jeans to college, that means that you would have to do laundry at least once a week…and if you didn’t that means that you did wear your jeans multiple times before washing them…

I do do laundry once a week. I’m in an apartment and still do laundry once a week. What’s your point? Laundry isn’t evil.

Is there some other anxiety behind this jean thing? Because transfer, I’m telling you, seriously, honestly, for realz, unless you start kicking up dust like Pigpen no one is going to care.

5 pairs is fine, and if you like to wash your jeans after only one wear, do it. If you don’t, no one will notice that one extra wear, and you’ll be just fine.

Wear what you want. I promise you, nobody cares and if they do, they won’t think about it for longer than a few seconds.
Anything you don’t need can be shipped home. Anything you do need can be bought.

this page came up on google.

I just wanted to say I wear my jeans like 3 times each before washing them. Of course there are days when I’m being dirty and must wash after one wear, but for the most part, jeans are durable and if I stay clean, they’ll be fine. It’s not the amount of times the jeans have been worn, but the quality of the times that I have worn them. Nobody ever calls me out for not washing after one wear, as long as I don’t stink.

Washing jeans after every wear is not only a waste of money, but it also wears them out extremely fast, which forces you to buy replacements much more often. The grocery store slogan “it’s only as fresh as it looks” does apply to clothing, so if it looks clean and smells clean then for what purpose will throwing it in the washer serve?

Larry’s right, unless the jeans smell funky then they’re fine to wear. It’s kind of a no-brainer. And jeans don’t even really need to be washed all that much, maybe once a week or two weeks, so long as you’re wearing underwear and bathe regularly.

As far as what I am bringing, I have it down to a pretty solid list (for Vermont):

1 pair of jeans (might pick up another)
3-4 chinos
12 or so t-shirts
x amt. of underwear
6 or so pairs of wool socks
3-4 wool sweaters
3-4 OCBD’s for layering
2 or so flannel shirts (they’re not plaid), and a wool shirt-jac
A peacoat, wool jacket, and LL B. synthetic coat for the nasty weather
A pair of Red Wings and Merrell’s
Two pairs of canvas sneakers (one’s falling apart)
And a wool cap.

i think maybe plattsburghloser regularly *****s his/her pants, not giving him/her the opportunity to wear them twice before washing them.

hell to be honest i wear jeans 3 times before washing them, Jeans were actually invented for durability >.< I take advantage of it! its perfectly normal to wear jeans more than once before washing them… and they last longer too. Seriously what do you do in one day that can possibly get them so dirty? (besides them dirty gone wild parties)

i really don’t understand how this thread is 5 pages long

1 pair of Dior Homme Raw 19cm. Wash them once the whole year, you’re fine.

I wear my Jeans more than once without washing them… It seems like a waste to just wash them every time. I guess if you like go mud wrestling in them you’d wash them but Jeans can be worn more than once.
