I’m an incoming freshman from the New York metropolitan area (NYC) and I’m curious to how many and what kind of clothes to bring to Champlain. I like my clothes a lot so I tend to have a lot of them. I am considering which clothes I might bring to Vermont and I think I may even buy some new ones for college lol. As of right now,I am thinking:

8 jeans
2 long sleeve shirts
8 t shirts
3 light t shirts
6 button shirts
1 vest
4 sweaters
2 hoodies
3 jackets (not including snowboard jacket)
1 heavy winter coat

Maybe too much? Just right?idk

Hi Nvonshats,

I am a rising junior at Champlain, and also from the NYC area, as well, I do love my clothes. Truthfully my closet is packed to the brim. One nice thing about Champlain though is our school is well insulated and you don’t need your heavy winter jacket until around Thanksgiving. Otherwise I think what you are bringing should be fine. If you want to bring more you can just bring what you think is necessary.

The first few weeks of school it will most likely be warmer until sometime in late September. I do recommend having a lightweight jacket for the fall. One other bit of advice I have is to bring something rain proof since we do get random rainstorms. Vermont weather can be unpredictable, but the beautiful thing is you learn how to dress for the potential weather and how to layer.

Hope this helps and let me know if you have any other questions!

To save some space in closets, I bought my son a pack of those really thin hangers. Since he’s not much for folding, I thought hanging might be the next step up from floor piles.
