This question is aimed more towards the guys (we know girls will bring plenty), but how many shirts, pants, jackets, whatever are you bringing? I'm worried that I'm bringing too much.

Just keep in mind that you will be traveling back home very soon. Winter doesn't come before you do and less is more. Don't take extra clothes home on your return trip and by that time you will know what you need more of.

1 shirt
1 shorts
2x underwear
2x socks

for the whole semester

a lot of clothes

You're living at school. It will be your home. Look at your clothes. What do you wear at home? You'll probably want to wear it at school too. Bring whatever you need but leave the clothes you never wear at home. Chances are you'll never wear them at school either.

for people who are not going to come back to their home (dont have a home)
what do we do ? T_T

i'm bringing like 10 tshirts, 5 shirts, 5 jeans, suit, 5~6 underwears, 5-6 pairs of socks, 1 hoodie, 2 light jacket, 3 medium~heavy jacket.

ewww that's way too much.. (like 2 BIG boxes already)

ah how often are you planning on doing laundry. Remember it's not okay to wear underwear twice. Try buying more pairs, the less often you have to wash your clothes the better.

once a month probably, you can always go comando if you run out of underwear first, socks are a little harder to deal without

*** do you need a suit for.

bring the clothes you LIKE to wear. no more. for example, don't bring the shirt that sits in the bottom of the drawer that you bought because it was on sale but you've still never managed to get around to wearing it but you think you might wear it one day at college... you won't. so don't bring it.

Well it looks like I am bringing quite a bit (maybe too much). About 20 polo shirts, work out/around the dorm stuff, 4 shorts, 3 jeans, 4 pants, suit, sports coat, 3 jackets, 2 rain coats, 6 sweaters, 7 pairs of shoes, 4 ties....

However I will be doing a bunch of out of school stuff in DC that requires nice stuff.

???????????

I'm bringing as much clothes as my parents' car can hold. :)

you can turn underwear inside out, duh.

... why 2 rain coats?

I'm probably bringing like.... 12 pairs of socks, 3-4 dress socks, 10-15 boxers, 2 pairs of shoes, 1 pair dress shoes, tux, sport coat, 2-3 ties, 15 tshirts, 3 polos, 5 undershirts, 6 pairs of shorts, 2-3 pairs athletic shorts, 5 khaki pants (don't wear jeans, these might wait till fall break)... yea.

and I need the tux for band concerts.

Some frats reqire suits for pledging, fyi, if anyone is thinking about that.

I do laundry like every 10-14 days. When my bag gets pretty full / I have time / there's washers open.

well a suit is really just in a case. but i'm pretty sure there would be some occasions where i need something nicer (than a pair of jeans and tshirts) to wear

Let's see....3 or so jeans, lots of shorts, over a dozen pairs of socks, same goes for underwear. I just need to buy some newer shirts to go with a different look this year.

Bunch of polo shirts (no, I'm not of the popped collar brand, just trying a new look).. a few t-shirts, dress shirts, suit (I plan to be doing a lot of business-related functions in D.C., so I'll bring this along).. couple of winter coats, jacket, my Georgetown sweatshirt, dress shoes, athletic attire (just track jacket and track pants, mainly), umm.. nothing more, I think... oh yes, undergarments, but who can forget that? ;)..

yeah ive been trying a new look too recently. like i moved from the basketball type shoes to the puma type shoes. and ive started to wear collared shirts over white shirts recently. so hard because my mom used to always pick my clothe and now i have to take the initiative. it took me three hours yesterday just to buy a pair of shoes lol.

"why two rain coats"

One black and one kakhi (sp?).

I generally don't like wearing an article of clothing (other than jackets and shoes) more than once before washing, and I don't like doing laundry more than once a week, so about seven pairs of summer clothes for now and a couple pairs of winter clothes (I'll bring more back at the end of Christmas break).

I bought a dress suit recently too just in case.
