How many colleges are you applying to (Or have applied)

Better not put all your eggs in one basket.

Anybody just randomly choosing all the prestigious/reach colleges along with your favorites so that you have a broader selection? I mean you can always reuse essays.

I would guess the average CCer would apply to 15...

I’m looking at 10 or 11 right now

MIT
Carnegie Mellon
William and Mary
Virginia Tech
UVa
U of Maryland
Yale
Stanford
Harvard
Michigan-Ann Arbor
UChi

around 12, but maybe one or 2 more or less.
Hope I get into ED and dont have to finish the other 11…

Roughly 20.

I need a good selection of selective schools (the type of environment/people I’m looking for) and schools with good financial aid (I will need a lot of aid).

Thus, I need a broad range so I can find the school that I get into and get good financial aid from.

14

Cornell
UC Berkeley
UCLA
UCSD
UCSC
Carnegie Mellon
Tufts
UMichigan
UWisconsin Madison
Boston U
Colgate U
UMinn Twin Cities
U Iowa - safety
UMass Amherst - safety

Maybe Stanford just for the heck of it, even though my rejection chance is 100%.

I think 11 or 9 depending on ACT scores, maybe more.

My list as of now:

Notre Dame
Texas
UCLA
UNC
UGA
Florida
Clemson
Oregon
SDSU
Cal Poly SLO (might drop)
UCSB (might drop)

my top choices are the first 6 schools that I listed. I think I might add more privates because I’m suddenly interested in doing ROTC, thus making them affordable.

Also considering adding: USD, Auburn, Iowa, Wisconsin, Wake Forest, UVA.

I applied to 29 schools!

Not really, I applied to one school. I got in. That’s where I go.

^I got really scared for a sec…

^Hey there CC stereotype.

^ Half of them are Ivies, which are crapshoots. Got to play it safe, no?

It’s that mentality which oversaturates the applicant pool.

applying to 20 schools is going to be very expansive…

^^ It’s not my fault that all the Ivies have prestigious business programs which will allow me to break into a good Finance or Investment Banking career.

^Actually, I think of the Ivy’s, only UPenn has a business program for undergrads.

Yeah I think that’s technically true
