I've whittled my list down to 18 universities, but it still feels like too much. How many schools is too many?

I’m applying to five, but I’m not applying from a CC.

You must be paying close to a grand on application fees alone.

I have fee waivers or else I’d apply to like 3 or 4

Apply as many as you want to, as long as you can afford it and maintain your sanity.

I am looking at applying to about 8-9 ( and yes, I am getting fee waivers as well)

what fee waivers??? how do I go about getting those?

You need to be in a certain income bracket.

wow crazy…i had know idea…I “qualify” for it as it seems…cool

I was going to apply to around 5 universities but now with that…probably a few more

Having fee waivers is great and definitely allows you to apply to more schools. However 18 is a lot, particularly if they have extensive supplements or don’t use the CA. Just make sure that: 1) your list is realistic; and 2) you are able to submit high quality applications to each school. Otherwise, just applying to a large number of schools may not result in a greater chance of acceptance.

18 is way too many. I’ve seen your stats, you should have a decent shot anywhere you apply. Find your best fits and narrow down the list.

I’m applying to five. I just won a scholarship that lets me go to any state funded school in Pennsylvania for free. So, I have over a dozen safeties.

Oh, and I am using the fee waivers for four.

18 is just ridiculous, and if you are second guessing yourself than you already know that anyway. You should only apply to schools that you would fit into anyway.

I applied to 18 total, but my GC made me withdraw some (after the applications were in…), so the total number that I really applied to was 13.

I’m just terrified I won’t get into any university, and I’ll be stuck doing nothing for another semester. The one big problem is the supplement essays. So.Many. And I just can’t narrow down my list to 5 or 6 because they’re all reach schools. No matter how qualified I think I am, transfer acceptance rates are abysmal. There’s no way to feel confident.

I totally feel you on that. Maybe add a few safety schools to your list? That’s what I am doing.
Also, I think I read you were from a cc on another post ( if not, I’m sorry and just ignore what I’m saying), apply for admission to one of the schools your cc has a partnership with because often the advisers at that school will be able to give you a good indication of whether or not you’re going to get in because they are actively recruiting students from your cc.

If you currently go to a community college, what’s the process in getting a fee waiver to the schools you’re planning to transfer to? (if you fit the income bracket)

Yeah, I’m taking everyone’s advice and looking over my list. I took off some safety and reach schools. I just dropped Connecticut College and Mount Holyoke because I think I have a really good shot at getting into Smith. I might drop U Penn and Standford cause I highly doubt I have a chance at those. I’m iffy about Columbia GS because someone told me their financial aid is terrible. Le sigh, my list is a WIP.

My CC has unofficial agreements with Columbia GS and Georgetown. I’m applying to both.

Has any had a interview for Smith college? I’m applying as an international transfer for the fall 09, but haven’t been able to find anything regarding the transfer statistics
