What is the total number and what is the break up EA/ED/RD?

Is 5 a reasonable number?

Total: 8
EA: 0
ED I:1
EDII:1 if I don’t get my ED I spot.
RD: 6/7

5 should be fine.

I’m applying to 7.

Oh right, I forgot to respond to your question.

5 is fine unless you’re thinking of HYPSM only!

Thanks 082349.

That helps.

How is the application status with you? Done with common app essays ? Yet to even start! Is it too late?

I’m applying to 5 too.
1 ED, 3 EA, 1 RD
Done with everything except getting recs.

I have been laughed at when I mention the number I have suggested that my son apply to, but my number is FIFTEEN.

I recommend 15 because the acceptance rates at the top colleges he is applying to are so low.

In my opinion, if you don’t apply to a particular school, you have self rejected yourself.

So I would say a safety, 3 or 4 matches, and 8 or 9 reaches.

If you apply to just 3 or 4 of the top 20 schools, where acceptance rates are just 7%-30%, you risk being rejected at ALL of them. If you apply to 9 of them, you might get into 1 or 2.

But of course, everyone’s situation is different. My son has super great SAT scores, but only a so-so gpa, which to me mitigates in favor of applying to a lot of schools.

7 total
6 UCs
1 EA (non-restrictive)

6 UCs is too many. 2 or 3 if you are strong. At most 4.

1 ed, 1 ea, 2 rd.

I still have a year, but I feel like 5 wouldn’t be enough, unless they’re all safeties/matches…

So far I’m thinking:
ED: maybe 1, depends… I’ll decide that when I visit colleges.
EA: 5, maybe 6, depending on if I go ED anywhere. (If I go ED, then 5, if not, 6.)
RD: That really depends on what schools I get into during EA/ED round… At least 3 if I get to my top choice from EA. Obviously none if I go ED and get accepted…

It depends on what schools your 5 are, but I still think that’s not enough…

I think 5 is a good number for just the early round… And then it depends on what schools you got in. :)

ED: 0
EA: 0
RD: 7 (rolling admissions included)
UCs: 3
CSUs: 2

Depending on whether or not I take the October ACT, this could change to…

ED: 0
EA: 3
RD: 4 (rolling admissions included)
UCs: 3
CSUs: 2

My top 3:

Ed: 1
Rd: 2

And 4 RD safety schools.

I haven’t started because I’m having my finals now in my school. We follow a January to November calendar.

Very true indeed, that’s what I told my friend who’s in the same situation!

7
EA:2
RD:4
rolling 1
