Mine is like 4 and they are all state U's, without any safety schools.
I guess if they all reject me, then I will probably end up in local community college and then transfer later.

i’m planning on 9. 2 reach, 5 realistic, and 2 safety. Who knows, maybe if you apply to 1 or 2 reach schools you’ll get in. And on the contrary, if you don’t get into those 4 state schools and you have 1 or 2 safeties, then you won’t have to worry about community college (assuming that you don’t want to go to community college).

Yeah it’ll take some extra work applying to 2-4 more schools, but it’ll definitely give you more opportunities.

1 reach, 2 matches, and 4 safeties.

5 reach, 3 match, 2 safeties (UC system, 1 LAC)

I know this seems like a really top-heavy balance, but all the schools I loved during my visits were the super-selective ones, and at my level of GPA/scores everything’s kind of a crapshoot anyways, so why not?

12 LOL 5 reach 4 match 3 safties :P

about 14 6-7 reaches , 5 match , about 2 safeties

I think it depends on your situation. Whether you need financial aid, for example.

Or suppose you are applying to the tip top schools, like Harvard. You had better apply to a lot of them, because their acceptance rates are so low.

…two, lol.

One is super-safety, the other is a safety. But I love my safety. :)

12 - 2 safety, 2 match, 8 reaches but still well within reach

4 for now, expecting to add a couple of matches/reaches.
2 safeties, 2 matches.
Could change with October SAT scores.

6 reaches, 5 matches, 1 safety.

If I end up doing particularly well on the SAT, I will probably pursue some other match/safety merit possibilities.
