I was just wondering if I can ally to a lot of college, and when I say a lot I mean it. I think there is about like 12 to 13 different colleges I would like to apply to in the future. Can I really do that? Many of the colleges I really want to go are places like UCLA,CAL,USC,and Stanford,NYU,but the ivies is also a place I really would like to go to also even though there incredibly hard to get in to (yes I know the other colleges I listed are hard to get into also so nobody tell me that they are). Also would it stupid to apply to colleges like MIT and Caltech. I don't want to be a engineer but I do seem to do well math, ill be doing math at a California state university in senior year so maybe they would take me into consideration hahaha well maybe not but don't know till you try right.

My friend applied to 20. she started like the beginning of senior year. Most colleges applied to by one person in our class.

She got fee waivers for all of them though.

When you’re applying to the most competitive schools, it’s prudent to apply to many schools, probably about ten, including one safety and a few matches. You should, however, be genuinely interested in each school. The Ivies are first and foremost a sports league and are fairly dissimilar except in terms of prestige, and applying to all eight is just uninformed. If you’re not interested in engineering or technical studies, don’t apply to technical schools.

Yeah go ahead and apply for however many you want.

I think I filled out like 46 applications and submitted like 14. There’s no limit.

But app fees get expensive, especially if your parents make you pay for them =/

Originally I had a list of around 45-50 schools but managed to narrow it down to about 12 with my college counselor which was so hard because I had some sort of attachment to each school! (I wasn’t going to apply to all of them, of course!)

I ended up applying to 11 schools. I finished all of my applications over Thanksgiving break.

After going through this, I can honestly say that it is not worth it to apply to 15+ places. Heck, even around 10-15 is a HUGE amount of schools. Those application fees really really did add up. Not to mention the added costs of sending transcripts, SAT and SAT scores, and AP scores. I think I probably spent close to $1000 on applications.

If you have the stats to apply to all those schools you listed, then by all means go for it. But since most of your schools are very hard to get into these days (we all know that even the most qualified get rejected from Ivies now), I’d suggest some back-ups as well. Good luck!

If your parents have lot of money you are welcome to apply to all the 3500+ colleges in the USA!!! However 12-13 is fine…you maximize your chance of getting admission!! Best of luck!
