I applied to 7: 3 reaches, 2 matches, and 2 safeties.
19 schools
10 reaches
5 matches
4 safeties
Six. 3 safeties, 1 match and 2 reaches.
1 billion.
I put my mom on the verge of bankruptcy.
I would recommend 3 safeties, 3 matches, and as many reaches that you feel like spending the app fees and time required for the supplementals.
D16 applied to 4 safeties (all rolling admissions and got into all of them), 2 matches, and 5 reaches. Maybe we could have categorized 2 of the reaches as low reaches or high matches.
All 4 safeties were free to apply and didn’t need an essay beyond the one she submitted for the CA.
In the end, she got into one of the reach schools in the ED round so she didn’t end up applying to 3 of the other reaches. She had to pull the apps for 1 reach and 1 match school per ED agreement.
I have D19 coming up in a couple years and we will probably use the same strategy.
8
3 safeties
1 match
4 reaches
9 colleges
1 safety
2 match
6 reaches
11, but i applied to 3 of them after getting my first defferal and freaking out, thinking I wouldnt get in anywhere I applied. Don’t do that. You will.
4 Reaches
3 Safeties
4 Matches
I applied to 16, with 8 reaches and 8 matches/safeties. To be fair, most of those were waived, and four of them were UC’S with the same application.
8: 4 reaches, 3 matches, and 1 safety. The process gradually wore me out so my list went from 11 to 8.
1 reach, got in ED
14
7 safeties
2 matches
5 reaches
I know I applied to a LOT of safeties but I have my reasons lol
11 one reach two high matches 5 matches and 3 safeties
15
3 safeties
5 matches
7 reaches
I applied to 5 and have been accepted to 4 with the last decision pending. I don’t really know why you would apply to 9/10+ schools. Seems like a waste of money and time.
7
1 safety (UA)
2 matches (UT, TAMU)
4 reaches (Rice, Princeton, Harvard, Stanford)
My kid applied to 11 (2 rolling, 5 EA, 4 RD)
3 Safeties - 2 instate, 1 OOS
4 OOS matches
4 Private reaches
- 3 safeties 3 matches (accepted into 2) 10 reaches
- Around 14 have a less than 10 - 20% acceptance rate for internationals :-p
Got into 1, rejected from 1, deferred at 1 and got a likely from 1
D applied to 19 schools, about the same number to reach/match/safety give or take. She got into all her safeties with very good merit (except the flagship with little merit), half of her matches with very good merit, waitlisted at the other half of her matches, and rejected at 5 out of the 7 reaches, waitlisted at 2. Ended up going to a match school that offered a great package.
