<p>Ideal to me is 6, I’ll be encouraging my DS h.s. class of 13 to apply to 8-15 schools.
I think ALL should apply to at least 1-2 rolling admit schools.</p>
<p>He took SATs in 7th grade for gifted programs. He has also taken PSAT and SSAT. This has given us a “bottom line” SAT range. I expect academically he’ll have stats for top schools (maybe not IVY, but top). </p>
<p>I think high stat kids don’t really have “match” schools because the admit rates at top schools are low.</p>
<p>Our income bracket also puts us in the “bad” middle – too high for help from many schools, very good help from IVY and Top schools. We’ll be merit shopping for sure.</p>
