How many courses are you allowed to take?

7 is the max allowed

Only six :(
But we have our entire class schedule available during summer school :)

Ugh. Only 8, including PE. I wish we could take more. I get intensely bored.

So...people with all the crazy 7,8, or 9 class schedules, can you give me an example of your schedules?

9 periods in a day. Some people take driver's ed before school on Mondays and Wednesday.

We're allowed to sign up for as many classes as can fit in our schedule, often at the cost of a free period. 7 hours of work a day is kind of painful with no breaks in between :(

We have to take 8...that's the min and max.

Le Schedule of Junior Year:

Before School: Driver's Ed/cramming for 1st period test
1. AP Human Geography
2. Fizix lab/gym
3. Fizix
4. Chorus (<-- not a joke, like everyone seems to think)
5. Pre-Calc
6. AP English
7. AP American
8. Spanish 4H
9. French I

I usually ate lunch during American (used to eat during English until the stupid freshmen complained that the room smelled because of all the food.)

Junior Year.

US History (no H or AP)

English AP

Statistics AP

Clinical Rotation

Physics AP

Concert Choir

Precal DH

Clinical Rotation

Lunch isn't a period...it's between 2 and 3 on A Days and between periods 6 and 7 on B Days.

wow...you guys are crazy. The max I can take is 7, but I've taken 5-6 classes in the past.

My school is non-semestered but we're allowed to take 8-9 the whole year and believe me that's all any of us could take.

Technically, there are 9 periods. Everyone has to take at least 7. The Science/Tech kids and other smart ppl usually take 8. 9 requires a lot of dedication and the teachers have to know/like/trust you a lot. Also, you have to really like school to get there early and skip lunch.

I agree...I would never take a class so that I'd have to skip lunch.

When do you eat?!

That's insane.

Our school doesn't believe in giving us lunch. The last time I had an actual lunch period was 8th grade.

The whole scheduling thing is a problem because I need to fill all 9 periods with classes to take the courses I want/need to take, but 7 straight hours of work is brutal. The number of times I cut class this year skyrocketed because there were just some days that I just needed a break.

6 + online + dual enrollment

I think the minimum you can take is 5. Just thought I'd throw that out there. Oh, and I had 9 periods last year:

Spanish

Orchestra (gah. GAH.)

Business Analysis/Health

Chem

Chem/Gym (days 1&2)

English

AP World

Italian

Math

The upcoming year I also have 9 periods, I don't know the exact schedule yet, but it's something like this:

AP Bio

AP Bio/Gym

Pre-Calc

College Writing Lab/SAT Math

English

Spanish

Italian

AP Psychology

AP US History

I had lunch in 9th grade, but it was generally a waste of time. I can eat in 10 minutes, so I just ate in class last year.

If I had a lunch period I'd probably work through it anyway, but it would be nice having the option of just chilling out for 40 minutes.

max for us is 7 (per. 0-6) but people who take 7 classes usually have a sport for per. 6.

7 including PE. Some people test out of PE and take another class. I can't because PE meets 4 out of 7 days and I have animal science labs the other 3 but most people just have a free period. If I were to test out of PE and try to take another course I couldn't do the mandatory labs.

We don't have optional classes in the mornings... we should though.

Oh and as far as I know... lunch is mandatory.

how are some of you not given lunch? in california it's a law or something that we have to have a period for lunch. i guess the schools can get in huge trouble or something. i only foundd this out because one of the seniors is supposedly taking 9 classes but she can only do that by taking out her lunch period and so the school can be in some trouble if people find out for sure. who knows though....

8 classes with block scheduling
