How many courses is recommended to take your freshman year in a community college to still be able to apply for financial aid but that it's not to much of a burden.

It depends on the school and what type of system it’s on, whether semester or trimester.

My school is on a semester system, and most students take 15 credits each semester. The minimum to be considered full-time is 12 credits. 15 credits isn’t too hard to handle, especially for freshman intro-level courses.

It depends on the school and the courses. Five introductory level gened courses is going to be a significantly easier course load than 5 hard science/math courses.

12 credit hours is considered full time at my school. A typical course load is about 15 credits. A typical college course is 3-4 credits, with some lab courses being 5 credits. 15 credit hours is typically equivalent to 4-5 classes.
