How many courses do people take per semester @ BU? How long are these courses?

4 courses per semester is standard (4 credits each). Some people take only 12 credits some semesters (minimum full time), some take 20. 128 credits required for a BA.

4-credit courses generally meet 3 times for 50 minutes or 2 times for 80 minutes each week, plus discussion/lab for some.

Didn’t want to post a new thread, What is BU’s policy for AP courses? Thanks!

Some AP classes count for classes. It varies how many credits each score will get you, but you can see the numbers here:
[Transfer Credit | Boston University Admissions](http://www.bu.edu/admissions/apply/transfer/transfer-credit/)

Click on advanced credit guide.

If credit’s are obtained from AP score’s, do we skip those classes altogether?

For example, I plan to major in CAS and got a 5 on the AP Biology exam. Therefore, I obtain 8 credits and then get to skip BI 105 & BI 107. Correct?

Correct. For example, if you had 44 credits from AP exams, you could take one summer course (or overload one semester) and graduate in 5 semesters. Also, the AP credits can fulfill requirements for your major if they correspond with required courses.

Although it’s not a factor in the admissions process, are the AP’s senior year still capable of receiving credit? Thanks again for all your help, I like to ask lots of questions :)

Yeah, they all count. I’d suggest taking AP exams in anything you’re reasonably familiar with, there’s nothing to lose (I mean, beyond the fee. It was like $80 when I took them, no clue what it is now).

Is the same principle true for SAT scores? For example, If I take the Spanish SAT II test in March and get above a 560, I’ve fulfilled my Foreign Language Requirement for Graduation.

(See Link Below, Click “Foreign Language Requirement”)

[Boston University Arts & Sciences](http://www.bu.edu/cas/academics/undergraduate/requirements/)

yes, sat II’s count for foreign language. However, if you want to keep taking Spanish, you’ll need to take the placement test.

SAT II will cover the language requirement, but you will NOT receive credit.
