How many credit hours do you take in a semester?

I was wondering how some of you schedule your classes and when you plan to graduate. Do you take 12-15 hours and maybe plan on graduating in more than 4 years, or do you take 16-18 hours and plan to graduate in 4 years? Do you take summer courses?

-I've heard that summer classes help, but may not be the best option for important classes, where you cant afford to sacrifice education quality(assuming you take classes at a less selective school, of course)

I'm graduating in 4.5 yrs(w/ summer classes) hopefully;) b/c I changed majors...

I've taken as many as 18.5 and as few as 14 and graduated in 4 years. Five of my semesters I had 18 or 18.5 credits each.

always between 15-19. have to graduate in 4 years since the scholarship runs out

I've taken between 9 and 17 a semester. I came in with a few classes of credit, and took summer school every summer (1-3 classes a summer). I ended up adding on a minor that didn't fully count towards my degree so I needed extra courses, and I'm only doing part time senior year as our design courses are very time-consuming and stressful. I spend 15-35 hours a week on my design course alone. I'm graduating this semester, and took 4 years.

Oh, and at my school you had to pay extra for > 16 credits, so I only did that one semester, out of necessity. I also stayed at my school two out of the three summers, as the first summer I went home and couldn't find a job (I had a secure on-campus job for the other two summers).

14 credits on average, will graduate in 4 years because of AP

12~14. I plan to take an extra year to finish my degree.

My D took 19 just did not work out!!!!! Don't overload.

I was usually somewhere between 14 and 19. I know people that have done upwards of 25 and were still able to keep straight As (in engineering).

Didn't take any summer courses, came in with a bunch of classes worth of AP, and finished a semester early with a minor in physics.

I once took 19 hours during the fall semester as drum major of the band while working a part time job and while applying to 7 grad programs.

I... would not recommend this. (My advisor snookered me into "auditing" his advanced three-credit structural analysis course during the first week of the semester, and then, halfway through the semester, forcibly added me as a "for-credit" student and had me change my concentration from engineering management to structures, under my weak protests... and he was entirely in the right for doing it. I'm forever indebted to the guy and I still keep in touch with him, but oy... that was not a fun football season...)

Typical was 15+/- 2 or 3 hours.

i've taken 20 for two semesters, but since three of those credits aren't required, i'm really only taking 17 towards my major. Expected graduation is 4 1/2 - 5 years from when I started (with summer/semester co-op)

16-17 per semester for myself

Most engineering curricula require 15-17 hours per semester to graduate in 4 years, but many students use AP credit to lighten that load or to take more elective courses.
