Hi, I am a student who is trying to transfer to one of the UC campuses such as UCLA, UCSD, UCI, UCSB, UCD. I am in a unique situation where I need some of your advices to get my facts straight.

I am originally from Midwest where I graduated high school and went straight to a community college to spend 2 years with 45 credit hours. After that, I was involved in a family business for a couple of years then transferred to a 4 year university in East Coast. Due to several reasons, mostly financial, I had to transfer out of that school with 12 semester hours completed. Meanwhile, my entire family moved to California and I am here with them. Now, up until last spring which ended a couple of weeks ago, I have earned 12 units here at a cc in California.

So basically, I have 45 hours of out-of-state cc credits + 12 hours of 4-year university + 12 ccc hours which equals to be a 69 semester hours total. Now, I know that you have to have 30 ccc hours to be considered as a ccc transfer applicant. So, I am thinking about taking the rest of 18 hours coming fall semester. But I am not sure if this is a good idea considering that I would have a total of 87 credit hours which sounds a bit too much to me. Aside from that, I have been here in california for 2 years and have established my legal residency here. Also, most of the courses I took so far from both out-of-state and ccc are lower division general ed. courses.

What do you guys think? Should I go ahead with the rest of 18 hours or should I just bite the bullet and apply as is this November?

I would greatly appreciate your advices.
