How many credits is Frontiers of Science?

How many credits is Frontiers of Science

Four. You know how to use the Directory of Classes, right?

Yeah, I was just searching for "Frontiers of Science," which doesn't come up, when I should have gone to Subject-->Science. Thanks for the info.

Although I still can't find University Writing. I think I read somewhere that it's 3 credits, is that right?

No problem.

yes U writing is 3, lit hum is 4 ....those are kindda tricky to find

frontiers is 4 credits but im pretty sure its not apart of the core anymore

If frontiers of science isn't part of the core, then into what class are the people put who don't have university writng first semester? Because I think that everyone with a last name from N (approximately) to Z get assigned university writing second semester. Or at least that's how Columbia's website said it worked when frontiers of science was still in the core. Are you sure it's not part of the core anymore? I don't remember seeing anything other than a few posts on CC saying that. I could be wrong, though.

Frontiers is definitely still part of the Core.

And yes, the second half of the alphabet takes UWriting second semester.

i was under the assumption after watch CTV that Frotiers would be taken out for a year to whenever in order to revamp it....and in it place a diversity class would be put into the core in light of all of the hate crimes going around campus.

but maybe i misunderstood...............

question:
if lit hum is 4 credits, is that 4 for the whole year ( 2 per semester) or 4 each semester (8 for the yr)

4 each semester

I thought they were going to try frontiers for 5 years (this upcoming year being the third I believe) and then decide to keep it or try something else?

As you'll come to find out, frontiers should be 3 credits and UW should be 4...blah

Did anyone else get a reading assignment email about Frontiers of Science?

Only some teachers want their students to read all of Habits (if that's what you're referring to) before the semester starts. Others will just assign a chapter weekly once school starts. My frontiers teacher assigned us Habits before school started but then once we got to class, said that it was okay to spread the reading over the whole course.

Yeah, it is Habits of Mind. Does that mean that the professor in the email is going to be my professor for the course?

probably, if the e-mail wasn't from Helfand himself. However, if it was from Helfand, it could still be that he is your section leader and it wasn't a mass e-mail.
